good news... well for me anyway

if you have read my introduction to the architecture section on this site you will see that i intend to publish some of my university work, after first reviewing it and having a go at some 3d modelling.  well as most of my part 2 work was completed in autocad, i decided to focus on these projects first.  unfortunately for me, my carelessness with a portable hard drive, used to remove the two gigabytes of work from my increasingly slow computer, means all of this work is now firmly locked inside the digital mind of the aforementioned hard drive.  this has led to searches for data recovery, very expensive, conversations with more computer literate people than me, highly inconclusive, and desperate attempts to hold the connections in place whilst simultaneously plugging the little bugger into the computer and praying for a stable connection that would allow me to remove all of my university work.  needless to say that didn't work out as planned.

i have been contemplating purchasing another portable drive in order to swap over the physical drives (a suggestion from a computer literate person), which would hopefully allow me to unlock the two years of work contained within the broken drive at minimal(ish) expense, when i happened to have a random conversation with the scout on the way back from my little sister's wedding.  and guess what? he has a dvd containing all of my part 2 work. get in!  we couldn't actually remember the reason for him doing this, but who cares?  there it is; two years of sleepless nights, two years of watching the day break outside my window, two years of being ripped apart by tutors whilst clinging to my own sanity as the lack of sleep threatens to tear my mind apart, two years of listening to the radio one playlist regurgitated throughout the day by each of the different radio dj's, two years of deciding that the only way to resolve the particular detail that was troubling us that day was to drink heavily and look at it again through bloodshot eyes, all contained in a six inch diameter disc sitting at the bottom of the scout's desk drawer.  quietly waiting to be reintroduced to the world and more importantly a computer!

now the plan is back in motion, christmas is approaching so i may not get any of the work up on the site, i have one project i could post but it's not a favourite so that one will have to wait.  be patient dear reader, be patient.  anyhow, the new year will bring new ventures and opportunity and time to sit down and look through my projects and get them up on the site.  and before anyone asks, i do have hard copies of all my work, but the thought of scaling it by hand and redrawing it all was not one that was seriously entertained! so, as with the favours for friends section, you will have to wait just a little while longer.

as i said, it's good news for me.  all of my work is safe in a desk drawer in an architect's office in chichester.
